Hello guys.
@Ryan I'm with you Ryan. It's all about making people realize what Flash is and this doesn't necessarily has to do with renaming anything else. I'll keep 3 words from your comment.. "strengthening the brand"!

@dbmuse I don't get why this affects those invested in the Flex name. If its about the developers, they still are Flex Developers. If it's about clients, they still have a Flex app. No one has to change their title, strategy or anything else.
Flex Builder can be a mash up tool if you mean that you can build stuff easy but the point is that it's not only that!
Yes Flex is a name with much value, this is exactly what I was referring to when I wrote that Adobe did a good job marketing this but in the end Flex is just a framework. Whatever we do with Flex it's always about the Flash Platform and the Platform deserves the credits. We get flash files that run on the Flash Player. Flex is(should be) the developer's tool. Not the client's "technology".
But even if we have to talk to the client about all these, doesn't make you happy talking about the Platform? Explain.. Open his mind.. People have to realize that the success of Flash it's because it's so many things! Its not just an animation tool.
That's why there are Flash designers, Flash animators, Flash developers and so many other.
We should be proud saying to the client that their app is running on top of the Flash Platform.
We have in our hands a platform that gives us so much freedom to express our selfs. Text, image, video, sound.. Who else can give you all that and make it sure that even on IE will look/work the same? ;)

@John I know John. That was just a joke mixing the words Flash and Flex ;)

Thanks for sharing guys!

i am opposed to the change due because of damage it will do for those already invested in the flex name. Plus someday the ???? builder product might be kicking out a project in based out choices like 'flash, javaFX, silverlight (boo), prism). To me the name Flex builder gives the message of a mashup tool. Something that can bring multiple technologies together. For Adobe that should be flash/pdf/ai/psd/etc. Flex certainly could be the programming tool / ide to deal with all adobe technologies. Don't do it Adobe. Flex is a name with much value ... more so as time goes on.

You don't have to go anywhere, we won't be renaming the player :)

I understand that a lot of people are worried about the Flash name. I think it's come a long way from the days of skip intro though. And as we include things like Flash Builder in the Flash family, I think that only ends up strengthening the brand while still keeping Flex a great developer brand. So in the end, everyone wins.
